ADVICE FROM DIANE

IT HAS BEEN SAID YOU HAVE TO BE IN THE RIGHT FRAME OF MIND TO MOVE FORWARD WITH PSORIASIS

Being in the Right From of Mind

I have been on cholesterol medication since the age of 28. I develop high blood pressure ten years later and then diabetes. I was also taking medication for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and developed fibromyalgia two years ago.

An Insurance Company’s Worst Nightmare

I have eaten and drank what ever I wanted to most of my life. I even had a doctor in Washington, DC, say I had a 70% chance of having a heart attack. This news did not phase me, and on top of all of this, I hated water.

When I got in my golden age; I started thinking about my mortality and knew I wanted to live a long healthy life. I would always say today is the day I will start eating right and lose these extra 50 pounds I was carrying around.  I tried exercise and eating right, but it only lasted a few weeks. I liked food too much. In order to move forward, I had to get into the right from of mind.  I had to do something if I wanted to live a long life.

Moving Forward With Psoriasis: Start Drinking Water

It wasn’t easy at first. I had to make small changes. I would make sure I had a bottle of water every where I was:

  • a bottle at my desk,
  • a bottle in my car,
  • a bottle in the bedroom,

I am up to drinking 4 bottles a day.

You are not alone

I want to be healthy and find it a challenge each day. I go the whole year attempting to eat right or finding the right exercise to do. When you have a chronic illness, as most of us are always in pain, it takes a toll on us.

For the new year, I want people to know that yes, I worked hard to take care of myself, but I also want you to know that when I do fail, I will not blame myself. I’m not a failure if I can’t shake off those few pounds. I’ll just start over.
